Moscow Metro Tour
Explore the mighty monument of Soviet era!
Moscow Metro originally was built to resemble pre-revolution palaces of Russian Nobility, to demonstrate the power of Bolshevik ideas — "The luxuries, once available only to a few chosen ones, now serving all the working class peoples". Abundance, symbolism and monumentalism — when the Moscow Metro was built, nobody thought about expenses or saving money or effort. It was not only a mean of transportation, but also a monument to the triumph of "The Proletariat"— the working class according to Bolsheviks.
And it is geniunely preserved by today - offering you a great change to delve into the history of Soviet Moscow, and Russia in general — many of the stations are dedicated to specific periods of Russian history, same as "Ploschad Revolutsii" station is dedicated to Russian Revolution.
Most of its central stations, is like a public-open museums, and, except of that, each of this stations has its very own backstory, both about its building process, and the historical event or famous person this stations was named after. Moscow Metro is like a lifeline of Russia. You can tell most of the country's troubled story just by observing this stations.
